Short stories - past
These stories all take inspiration from larger projects such as The Dynamite Room and Devastation Road, or unpublished novels that will maybe find a readership one day. Many of them feature secondary characters from these novels that deserved their own moment to shine, whilst others have sprung from research locations I’ve visited. I hope, together, they provide a richer tapestry to my work, although you don’t need to have read the novels to (hopefully) enjoy them. Do let me know what you think.
These stories will be added twice a month, starting with the first two below: ‘Waiting for the Storm’ and ‘Biscuits for Adolf' - both inspired by The Dynamite Room.
Waiting for the storm
Suffolk 1940. Just before the events of The Dynamite Room, Eddie, missing out on the military call-up, sits out the war, wishing for his own drama.
